I find it ironic that the same manufacturers pushing most junk foods make decent private label stuff for the likes of Trader Joes. The trick seems to be lightly dusting salty snacks on the outside with salt, rather than saturating them throughout. The CPG industry has been testing this for years, so it's no surprise that the FDA can now declare war on salt.

See also, Laura Scudder's new no-stir all natural peanut butter -- now containing thickeners and hydrogenated cottonseed/vegetable oil. Terrible mouthfeel, in my opinion, but I bet it sells well overall.
