This is pretty much the exact reason I created a chrome extension that blocks comments (altough not on theawl (yet!?)). It's called NoComments if you wanna check it out (it blocks nypost.com comments).

Maria! To anyone around my age (I'm the same age as Zuckerberg) the reason facebook was so popular isn't even a question: it was college only, all your friends seemed to be on it, and there were PICTURES OF EVERYONE. Adding taggable pictures was what made facebook the center of our quarter-lives.
