138 students-- impressive. I'm convinced. A few minutes of Springsteen always brings me back to my roots. And the White Stripes has the word "white" right in the name, in case you missed that!

On Two Ways Of Looking At 'Tiny Furniture'
Societies that reach the point beyond basic subsistence start to produce more interesting art. Also, I remember very well that the world told me to shut up when I was young. It finally got through to me and I did. But before that, I was writing some pretty good stories and novels. On Alone Again Or Something
There's a great old Marlon Brando movie called "The Fugative Kind" where he has a scene with, I think, Ana Mangani and he asks her to touch his chest and then says, What do you feel? And she says your skin or something. And he says, "That is the closest we ever get to each other." I may have some details wrong but that is the gist of it. It made a terrific impression on me when I was a teen-age old-movie buff and it is still true today.

On The Definitive List Of White Music Stolen By Black People
Thank you for redressing this grievous wrong! BTW, I think there were a lot more Beatles songs covered by Black artists than what you listed.
