I believe this exchange yesterday morning sums it up: We're at the farmer's market, and I offer our table to a guy with a small child so they can sit. Someone in our group mentioned something about Avatar, and with this small nugget of a prompt, the guy who took our table said, "You know, I was a gaffer on Avatar and it's a great movie." Uncomfortable pause... "Well that's great. Good for you." I finally saw Avatar for almost $20 last weekend and I was bored through most of it. Great films should surprise you.
