On The Definitive List Of White Music Stolen By Black People

Seconding Afrikaa Bambaataa stealing the melody of Kraftwerk's "Trans Europe Express" (and the beats from Kraftwerk's "Numbers") for "Planet Rock". That was a very important theft -- crucial to the development of both hip-hop and techno.

And it actually was theft... albeit later made right with the proper payment of royalties.

On 10 Things I Believed When I Was A Little Kid In Order Of How Embarrassing They Still Are When I Remember Them Today

@cherrispryte I refused to believe my mom when she explained that the "chicken" we bought at the supermarket, and ate, was the same as the chickens that ran around on farms.

@brent_cox Robots! Good one. I figured they were just actors. And all the houses in my neighborhood (and everywhere else) that I'd never seen the inside of were false fronts.

On Dreaming In Stereo: Why 3D Is Here To Stay

@Bettytron Nice! (But I can't help imagining it as Twain trying out an early prototype of Magic Fingers.)

On Dreaming In Stereo: Why 3D Is Here To Stay

@NFK Agree that the tech is not quite there yet. In 20 years, kids will be laughing at the way we watched 3D... like we do at those 1950s ads showing the family huddled around a hulking TV cabinet with a 6-inch screen.

(And needless to say, I get that this is all strictly in the category of First World Problems.)

On Dreaming In Stereo: Why 3D Is Here To Stay

@Brian Lam@facebook Tragically, I'm enough of a 3D nerd that I knew a lot of it (in vague terms) before I sat down to write it. What I had to nail down was names, dates, and stats.

It was all worth it just to find the picture of Hitchock with the giant phone prop, built for "Dial M for Murder" because the 3D cameras couldn't get a good image of a regular phone. They also had to build a giant finger, natch.

@Monica@twitter Oh yeah. And when autostereoscopic finally arrives (maybe not for another 8-10 years) you'll able to jump around, without glasses on, and the view on the screen will shift with you.
