On Grindr Monetizes

I love the fact Grindr's expanding to capture the straight market. Good luck with that. Maybe with incentives like "ladies grind for free (before 11)"?

On Yes, There Should Be Fire

Hi Awl, I've missed you!

So am I hating Tim Tebow? Or do we like him? Or do I openly despise his lack of skill, but secretly admire his running game?

On The New American Workplace Sucks (For a Reason)

I *completely* agree with the sentiment of your chart, but it should be pointed out that much (most?) of the offshore hiring is being done to satisfy overseas markets. Imma gonna quote, and gives you a link (if I can...)

"The vast majority of employment and sales by the foreign affiliates of US-based MNCs are serving the local market. When GE, or Microsoft, or Coca-Cola, or American Express expand their operations overseas, it is almost always with the primary goal of satisfying local demand, rather than replacing workers in the US. Yes, of course some offshore outsourcing does happen (though much less over the past few years than happened in the early 2000s), but really that's not what's driving the dramatic difference in employment patterns of US MNCs within the US compared to outside the US."

On Clarence Clemons, 1942-2011

When I was around ten my mum and her sisters would play "The River" and "Born to Run" incessantly, dancing and drinking, til the wee hours up at our cottage. I remember hating it. Then we stopped going to the cottage and moved away and I grew up and I eventually began to appreciate what they knew all along. This is sad news.
