@stuffisthings What I see as mitigating factors:
- The first episode features Sisko witnessing his wife's horrible, violent death. So five seasons isn't actually a weird amount of time to address it, considering he is still grieving.
- Sisko's deceased wife is a light-skinned black woman. So maybe people are intuiting he has a type, as opposed to thinking black men can only date black women.
- There are interracial couples going on all around him. There's Keiko/Miles, obviously; there is also Jadzia and Ezri Dax/Worf; Jake/that white dabo girl; and not-Kira/not-Julian in the 50's episode.
- Sisko definitely has sex w/ Jadzia in the Mirror Universe. Does that count?

On Understudies! The American Musical and Life After "Cabaret"
Also, I was wondering what people thought about "The American Astronaut," if they thought about it at all? That felt to me like a very good and brave work interested in taking the movie-musical to a new place! But I very rarely see it brought up in the larger conversation and am not sure why.
