I once confronted a speeding driver in a pedestrian neighborhood, the argument escalated to the point the driver was threatening to come out and do ? until his passengers convinced him to keep going. There was a moment of terror not knowing whether he had a gun and it was my last few seconds on earth. There were passers-by all around me.
The thing is for the next few weeks, strangers would approach me while I was walking to work etc, and say they'd witnessed the entire exchange and had been ready to jump in if the driver had gotten out. That made me feel better (?) because at the time I saw many people, but felt totally alone. It's a weird human moment.
