On 'Gone With The Wind': Devil In A Black Bombazine Dress

Scarlett is a horrible human being, which is why this book is so damn fascinating. I was probably 11 when I read it for the first time and her absolute lack of empathy for anyone but herself was breathtaking. Mellie's weird denial of this sociopathy was my first inkling that there might be Mean Girls with Magical Powers and Accepting Entourages in the adult world too. To this day, I enjoy a good antihero tale because of this book.

But yeah, Margaret Mitchell was NUTS.

On "A Florida woman who was apparently tired of her dirty couch reeking of urine...."

So the guy she beat up was the one peeing on the sofa?

I feel fairly certain I have seen this couple on COPS.

On Hermit Self-Deprecating

If Jez Butterworth doesn't build a play around this guy, I'm going to be really disappointed.

@My Number Is My Address

Felix went back to his wife after a few months! Temporary Mancaves (in Manhattan) don't count.

On Future Brooklyn: The Dadvorcé Mancave

Statistically, it is more likely for the divorced moms to band together in Yoga Retreats of Doom with many bedrooms for all the kiddies, while the dadvorces are busy getting remarried to 25-year-olds.

On What 2012 Looked Like In 1982

I just know, if I live long enough, I'll end up casting director for that dinner theater on the moon, Casa de Newt.

On The Coming Real Estate Disaster for White-People Brooklyn

This looming real estate crisis is also what I think of whenever I see one of these couples on the train, having the sad tense nonfight that has clearly become their standard mode of discourse.

That, and if I think the dad is cute enough to put up with the children on alternate weekends.
