@happymisanthrope You're welcome, I guess, though if I really wanted to be helpful I would've kept that knowledge to myself. No one ever needs to read the Slate comments on anything.
@happymisanthrope It's certainly better for your mental health if you DON'T read them, but they're still there! Just hidden, thanks to the terrible, terrible redesign. Click on the little maroon circle at the top of the post, next to the Twitter button.
@Don'tcallmeJenny How about this? "If it's not about you, then it's NOT ABOUT YOU." Heather was not talking about you, personally. I'm sure you've done a great job being a young-ish mother. Go you, high fives all around. etc. The LW, however, is no longer young. (I mean, 30 is still young, sure, but it's older than 19.) He wants to have kids. He does not want to have kids with his girlfriend, who is also not young. THAT is what we're talking about today, wanting kids/not wanting kids/relationships/the unavoidable march of time/the fact that women cease being able to have kids after a certain age. Heather made one comment in favor of having kids at the LW's current age, and I assume she made that comment based on her own PERSONAL experience (and maybe, also to console the LW that he hasn't yet blown his chance to be a good dad).
@stuffisthings In one of the epic Bustle smackdowns I read yesterday, someone posted a screengrab of a Bustle job listing/call for contributions. I don't remember all the details, but upshot was: you need to provide 4 pieces/day (by 10am), 3 days/week, and you get $100/day (breaks down to $25/piece, right?). For comparison, our beloved The Toast (which was decidedly NOT VC-funded though it is partly run on the mutual affection for the works of VC Andrews) pays something like $50-$100/piece.
@saythatscool Seriously, dude, that's not fucking funny. Shut the hell up.
@BadUncle I beg to differ! I enjoyed the hell out of the race walking during last summer's Olympics.
@Jinxie Though I have to admit that I developed an odd sort of crush on Thewlis after seeing it.
Oh, man, "Naked" is both a great, great movie and a movie I will happily never rewatch.
YES! The LBD's occasionally come up in conversation in some threads over on the Hairpin, but I've been dying to see an actual post devoted to it. Like you, I checked out the first episode earlier this year, assuming it was going to be kind of terrible, but I was hooked right away and got caught up with 2 or 3 marathon sessions. I know there's only so far they can go, given the source material, but I'll be really bummed when it ends next week.
@harinaPAN Everyone on that show (with the exception of f'ing Logan Huntzburger, the little turd) was cooler than Rory. (Which is not to say I didn't love her, just that she was a total dorkus.)
