My picture does not match my name. I am aware of this.
Celeriac remoulade is still totally a thing in Paris (and all over France). The pre-made Monoprix containers of it are one of my favorite things for picnics. That and carotte rapée (They're like the French equivalent of the American store-bought potato salad).
I forgot to mention that "the universal spider" has been my favorite king nickname for a long time, so when i saw this list my first thought was "Please let Louis XI be #1."
Or mistype the roman numeral (which happened frequently when I was writing my dissertation).
@jfruh The Louis. There are a lot of them. It is easy to get confused.
Nerd alert: Number 6 should be Louis XV (the bien-aimé), not Louis XIV! Louis XIV was a lot of things, but I don't think "beloved" was one of them.
@freetzy I live in Paris, and not infrequently see very pregnant ladies on terraces sipping rosé on a nice sunny day. No one bats an eye.
ART HISTORY NERD ALERT. filmed in Prague, but Rude's Le départ de 1792 and Étex's La Paix from the Arc de Triomphe totally make cameos in this video.
