On Kanye’s '808s': How A Machine Brought Heartbreak To Hip Hop
@Summer Anne Burton@facebook I agree with this completely and had been working on a similar essay that also touched on Kanye opening the door for more vulnerable artists like Kid Cudi and Drake, who have no problem putting aside typical hip hop boasting and sharing their weakness, especially with women. And if you look at which hip hop artists are selling these days, those three are definitely at thew top (well, maybe not Cudi). Though I don't necessarily see the relevance of the 808 machine in the emotion, I do think Emma's points about Kanye putting himself out there on the album are great.
