On Is Impossible Pie Impossible?
The first time I ever had this pie it was called Impossible Salmon Pie and it was actually quite good! Cooked salmon was added to the recipe with some dill — and a sour cream and dill sauce was on the side!
Stephany, I love your writing style, it has a nice rhythm ... a sort of stream of consciousness style that flips from explanatory to opinion/musings quite well!

On Chemical Apple Pie: Apple Pie Without The Apples
Mock Apple Pie was brought to my attention by a friend when I was 19 years old. We were learning to cook and it was still on the Ritz Cracker box. We howled when we read the recipe and noted it was bereft of apples. Of course we were probably smoking something we shouldn't have at the time. We later learned the recipe was popular during the Depression. But, my mother who lived during the Depression had never heard of it. She did have a cool chocolate cake that used vinegar to substitute for something in the cake due to its scarcity during that time. Also, why were apples scarce enough to warrant such an absurd concoction?
