Fairly comfortable with what he got from a $0.26 million education, so far. Not really.
I thought the New Inquiry post you used in the final paragraph was embarrassingly bad. Especially the line you quoted about "feels shaming" being more predominant than slut shaming. Perhaps that's true among the ice-veined blue blood wasps that make up much of the NI's audience, but in real life that's not the case at all. Feels shaming is, to use another horrible essay (because why not, right?), just smarmy tone policing.
Either way, I'm glad young people are coming to terms with having feelings, whether its via Dashboard Confessional or gender-swapping Bieber slashfic. You do you.
Christ, what an asshole.
On Meet The Awl
You're in Carcosa, now.
@ragazza You 'don't even drink that much' but 'no booze' would be a dealbreaker - after reading all that? You're ideas are those of a fucking psycho.
I don't know about you. But I'm feeling 22. Everything will be all right.
@Brad Nelson 8-3
I think I would have had a 'better' commenter number, but I didn't sign up at the first moment I noticed The Awl's existence. I think it took a day or four hours for me to be convinced of its potential.
But does it mean that posts you come across that make you want to kill yourself (for whatever reason) — are those going to be prohibited? If not, I see no reason for this. (This is like building a few extra doorways in the Coliseum or something.) (Useless.)(Well, unnecessary.) (Indiscernibly motived, at least.) (So vague as to be unenforceable and likely meaningless.) (Wait, what about all the blogs calling people "n--rs" and "c--ts"?) (That's a real chink in the armor for Tumblr.)
I like these pieces for the fact that reality and expectation so rarely otherwise coincide as neatly.
