On Save the Date in L.A. for Drinks: Feb. 1
Think west of Doheny but east of Bundy. It doesn't have to be the Brig or Other Room in Venice. There's the Culver City nearby places like Saints and Sinners and the Daily Pint. Beverly Hills has Nic's Martini Lounge, the Club Bar at the Peninsula, or Polo Lounge.

I'm sure one can separate these hipsters from their ironically worded t-shirts and skinny jeans for an evening. Besides they just redid their drink menu and have a ton of non-alcoholic options.
Seven Grand or any of the 213 Nightlife group's other bars. The Hollywood Roosevelt has some great spots in it.

Of course it had to be on the Eastside. I'd have been surprised if it had been anywhere west of La Brea; strictly Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park, or downtown. It would've been nice if was at Cole's/The Varnish or The Edison. Starter drinks at Taix, followed by whoever's playing at the Echoplex that evening, late night din-din at the Brite Spot, and it all cumulating w/me waking up in some gay hipster's pad filled w/Rose Bowl flea market furniture. I can already hear the colored American Apparel briefs hitting the distressed hardwood floor. The first round of Stoli gimlets are on me.

Seriously, is Clay gay? He looks familiar...as if I've slept with him. There's a reason why I don't drink any more.

On Extra-Dumpy Pants Making a Comeback
Dockers khaki chinos are probably the most basic of basics. Since their marketing is more focused on the price point than the styling, why not go of the way retailers like Target and Ikea? Bring the strength of inexpensiveness with a hipness to their ads. I'm not saying make a Dockers version of Gap's ever so popular "Khakis Swing" campaign. They should ask themselves how would the computer company Apple advertise an earth tone basic chino.

On Homeless Chic? It Still Costs Thousands of Dollars
I love Michael Bastian but even he can't afford his clothes as mentioned in his Times article. His frayed shorts are his signature look. If you're going to get one thing from him it's a pair of his $400+ shorts. I believe they're frayed by hand somewhere in Italy. Unlike chopping your own chinos and having that frayed look yourself, Bastian's frayed stays literally the same while the do-it-yourself ones will continue to fray upwards as time passes. He probably the only designer that does menswear right now that's wearable and yet not boring.

On 'Hollywood Wives': Shagging Movie Stars In Their Luxurious Mansions
I always felt that Jackie Collins did her best with Lucky Santangelo. She was a mafia princess who became sort of Jackie O but then ran a movie studio.
