On What Are The Best Audiobooks For A Road Trip?

i lo v e d MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN read by steve buscemi.
based on the comments of many people who read the book, turrets was hard to understand while reading, but it was never and issue for me to listen to.

also, DAVID SEDARIS is a holiday audiobook tradition of mine, and THIS AMERICAN LIFE. anyone who rides down i-95 will tell you it definitely gets you in the spirit.

On Harry Potter and the Deathly Epilogue

@cherrispryte that milquetoast line drove me crazy too! in the movies she doesn't say much, she just has this far away stare. you see her in movie 5 showing a little bit of strength but they never really show you her personality.

for the record choire, in the books, ginny in smart and lively and outspoken. plus, one of the more talented witches/wizards at hogwarts. she also makes the quidditch team (as a seeker replacement for harry and then as a chaser) and is really good. she is also attractive and funny. and harry is lucky to end up with her.

On Brooklyn Is Everything They Say It Is

it takes everyone from manhattan some time to adjust to living in brooklyn.
but trust me, soon enough you will be bitten by the brooklyn bug....
and instead of getting a huge rash, you will forget why anyone wants to live in manhattan or really even go there.

On What Kind Of ‘I Don’t Own A TV’ People Do You Have In Your Life?

i find the best response to the professor is to explain that even after reading "amusing ourselves to death", "claims to fame", "the medium is the message" and taking several classes in college that i based my thesis on....i still love tv like no one else i know. and it seems hypocritical to not participate in popular culture and then claim to know anything about it.

and to the poseur i act wildly surprised that they don't own a tv and then talk about how we live in "the golden age of television" and how currently tv shows are better than movies. and then i list examples and what other friends and critics have said.... and then they feel pretty stupid about the whole thing because they end up admitting that they do in fact watch every show i am talking about and actually agree with me.

to the pauper, shrugger and efficiency expert....i just shut my mouth, because i'm not a jerk.

live your life the way you want, just don't make me feel like i need to live it the same way....and i'll do the same for you.

On Julian Schnabel's Painting Encapsulates the Entire History of Painting, and Some Other Stuff Julian Schnabel Told Me In His Ex-Wife's Living Room Last Night

i was introduced to julian schnabel on the street one day by a famous actor who had worked with him and was currently working with me. as the lowest person on the totem pole, both of these guys gave me completely unrealistic expectations about how nice people on top are to people on bottom.
julian seemed genuinely happy to make my acquaintance and talk to us all briefly about what was going on.

3 years later i saw THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY against my better judgement. it was and remains one of the most beautiful, inspiring, life affirming films i have ever seen.
i own it. and if i ever see him on the street again, i will tell him how happy i am that that film exists.
