On 'The Thorn Birds': When Young, Sexy, Straight Priests Roamed The Earth
My sister and I may, or may not, be named after characters from The Thorn Birds.

On 'Clan Of The Cave Bear': Neanderthal Fan Fic
Just wanted to reaffirm what others had said re reading Valley of the Horses and the later books in the series. Don't get me wrong, Clan of the Cave Bear is great, but if you are looking for trashy, sexy goodness, the other books are where it's at. My 12 year old mind was utterly blown. I still sort of think my mother encouraged me to read them specifically as a form of sex education beyond What's Happening to My Body Book For Girls.

On 15 Recipes for Your Enormous Christmas Cookie Tray!!!
@jolie I am a pretty accomplished baker but I, too, am intimidated by rainbow cookies. However, I have an inside source for them because my mother-not-quite-in-law is THE BEST RAINBOW COOKIE BAKER ON THE PLANET. Seriously, people die for these things - they are better than anything you have ever had in a bakery (or possibly anything you have ever eaten ever?). And she is a machine when it comes to making them - trays and trays of them like it's no big thing (along with about a million other cookies on her perfect cookie platters). She's shown me the process before but I've always left the baking in her more than capable hands. Maybe I'll ask for the recipe, face my fears and and see what happens.

@jolie, I would love (love love love) that recipe if your family is willing to part with it. And I hate to bring this up, but, I think you forgot the rainbow cookies....

On State Slogans: Ranked And Saluted
I did not know that when I was speaking derogatorily about Texas I was actually using the state slogan.

On Newlyweds Acknowledging Crushing Realities of Marriage
My parents always said (half jokingly, half not) that their "wedding song" (they didn't actually have a wedding, just a court house ceremony and some pictures) is "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by The Stones. Which sort of seems terrible at first but is actually kind of sweet when you get to the "you get what you ne-eeeed" bit.

On Why You Probably Shouldn't Ask Me to Babysit Your Kids
I want those cookie cutters. Not the swastika one, obviously, but the others sound awesome.

On Okay, Help: What's Your Ideal Afternoon in Brooklyn for Tourists?
Greenwood Cemetery is beautiful in the Spring time and much cheaper than going to the botanical gardens; plus, there is a flock of wild parrots that hang out on the entry gates. And the promenade at night is pure New York magic.
