On Expect A Load of Crap, Basically

@Claire Zulkey I like where he says "Should you go to your best friend's wedding in Spain when you're 8 months pregnant? Sure, why the hell not. Spain has perfectly decent maternity hospitals, should you go into labor while you're there."

On The Battle For Planet Flanagan

For what it's worth, Flanagan is herself one of the moms who thought that fear of "rainbow parties" was overblown (so to speak). In fact, she specifically debunked them:

On John McPhee: "Who Could Tell What Might Happen?"

Chemical tanker truck driver guy was really interesting. My favorite part was when he's at a weigh station and some federal agents ask to bring their drug-sniffing German shepherd into his cab. Chemical tanker truck driver guy says "Sorry, I'm allergic to dogs." Agent says "Oh, she won't hurt you." Chemical tanker truck driver guy says "No, I'm CONSTITUTIONALLY allergic to dogs." Agent gets the picture. I've been waiting years to steal that line.

On Play "David Cameron Gets Shirty: The Videogame"

@deepomega Spider and Web is fantastic. I played it when I was on a low-powered computer with no internet connection for a week, but I recommend it any time.

On What's Invisible At Harvard: A Conversation

I wonder if "Oh, how interesting. So how do they feel about you being at Harvard?" was an attempt on the professor's part to engage with some of these class issues that the authors felt were mostly glossed over on campus.
