On Some Other Conversations With A Fact-Checker

This "article" has turned me on to a world of story-truth and theory-nonsense that confuses and infuriates me. So, thanks?

On Things That Actually Exist: Comedy Podcasts by Something Called "Women"

First off, while the total absence of women from that article is pretty bad, there 's plenty other nonsense here to marvel at. In the first few paragraphs, the author takes down Paul Gilmartin's podcast saying that it isn't funny and that it fosters a "perversely safe place". That is the ENTIRE POINT of that show! This read to me like the author is attacking a new format simply because he prefers an older format (pure stand-up & late night shows) and thinks for some reason that the existence of the new must mean the imminent destruction of the old.

Sorry. Anyway, there is a great TV podcast called The Satellite Dish, hosted by the husband/wife team of Justin McElroy (of My Brother My Brother and Me) and his wife Sydnee. It's great. Also, the podcast version of the Thrilling Adventure Hour has a solid core of great female actresses and comedians with frequent guest appearances, as well.

On Three Rotten Classic Books I Never Want to See Again

I feel bad saying this, but I just have to get it out of me: one of the reasons I stopped reading Deadspin was so I could AVOID Drew Magary. Stream-of-consciousness writing isn't my bag to begin with, and mean-spirited stream-of-consiousness is unbearable.

On Satchels, Totes and Cases! Whatever Shall a Man Carry?

There is no such thing as a man-bag or man-purse. We have shit we gotta lug around, regardless of gender. Personally, I go with a Filson briefcase, its a bit pricey but I fully expect it to last a lifetime, and it's gorgeous: http://bit.ly/bU3AIB

On Why Aren't Gays Funny?

I will submit a pair of LA gays: Dave Holmes, even though he is sort of in a comedy grey area, and James Adomian, even though most of his work is (amazing) character stuff
