Lowell Thompson
I'm a Chicago-based artist/writer/recovering adman. I was one of the first AfrAmerican creative types hired in the big time ad biz - 3 months after the riots that followed Dr. King assassination in April, 1968. I spent over 35 years creating ideas and images for many of America's top ad agencies and companies, including McDonald's, Coke, Leo Burnett, FCB, DDB Needham, Y & R, United Airlines, Kraft, McCann-Erickson, etc.. I even won a Clio (the "Oscar" of advertising for work I did for the Chicago Bulls, "Da Bulls" campaign. Now I'm using my talent at "manipulating the masses" for non-profit (or not-only-for-profits), doing my bit to change the world - for the better.

On Six Writers Tell All About Covers and Blurbs
This subject is right up my proverbial alley. I've had a blog for a few years called "Buy The Cover" where I rate bookcovers, not books.
It's amazing to me how many writers don't have a clue about the importance of their book's cover. I think it has something to do with arrogance. They think that nothing could be as important as their immortal words. But they never seem to understand that their "immortal" words will never even live if no one reads them.
That's where covers come in.
Right?
