On Two Poems By Anthony Madrid
I wouldn't have commented on this had I not noticed that this post did not have a single comment. That's a rare thing here. Maybe nobody knew what to say? What *do* you say to something like this?
I'll confess: I have no idea what this is all about. It looks like poetry, and I suppose it reads like poetry (or perhaps I've just been trained to read it like poetry--hmm), but I don't get it. Maybe I'm not supposed to get it.
Apparently the author is doing something right, though, with his first book soon to be published. Congratulations! Although, if the book is anything like this poetry, I suspect I might not be part of the intended readership.

On Translating César Aira: A Q. & A. with Rosalie Knecht
What a great read. I do literary translation as well (among other things) and will hopefully be getting my first novel translation published next year. It's always fascinating to hear about the experiences and ideas of other translators.

On Battle Of The 80's Comedies
Wow. This is tough. They are both classics. My first instinct was Back to the Future, but then I started thinking more about Ghostbusters and some of the genius there. And Bill Murray. This is hard, but I think I'm going to have to go with my first impression: BttF. If I tried to provide a logical reason for that choice I would end up waffling. It just is what it is.

On Summer Weddings, Belts, How to Pack and Tucking in Shirts
@roboloki: Actually, I do that during the winter, put the socks on first. Not so much in warmer weather. I can see the logic in grouping socks with underwear, though.

On Summer Weddings, Belts, How to Pack and Tucking in Shirts
On tucking in shirts... I guess I'm the only guy who puts his dress shirt on first and then puts his pants on after the shirt. My dressing order: undergarments, dress shirt, pants, tie, socks and jacket.

On Tom Ford Dead Right About Shorts: Men Should Not Wear Them
I have no idea who Tom Ford is, but I totally agree with him on this. City_Dater hits the nail on the head above: I would be terrified of walking down a city street (be that city NYC or Seoul) with flimsy flip-flops on.

On America Keeps On Loving Rock Song Thirty Years Since It Topped The Charts
Like C_Webb, I would go with "I Can't Fight This Feeling" over "Keep on Loving You," but I actually like both songs. A lot. I'm huge into cheesy stuff like this, and I am not afraid in the least to admit it.

On Six Things I Have Inadvertently Consumed
Just in case anyone is wondering what dado is talking about in the first comment, beondegi are silkworm pupae, usually served steamed. I've had them and don't really like them. I eat (and enjoy) a lot of other strange Korean foods, though, such as dog meat and fermented skate.

On Snoop Dogg Featuring T-Pain, "Boom"
For the confused: the official name of the group is Yazoo. They are called Yaz in the U.S., though--apparently there was already a rock group in the U.S. with the name Yazoo, and they sued.
So, technically, both LondonLee and Art Yucko are correct... although I'm inclined to go with Yazoo since they are British.
(Note to 2011: Please stop desecrating my music. Thank you.)

On A Playlist Of Game-Changing Moments In Song
I listened to the first three songs (up to Beach House) and they did absolutely nothing for me. I even took note of the points in the song mentioned in the article, trying to figure out what was so special about those particular moments... but no, nothing. It probably didn't hurt that I didn't particularly like any of the first three songs (I found the Jens Lenkman song somewhat grating, the Kanye West song generic (although I did like the art in the video), and the Beach House song soporific).
So I guess that means I am getting old, or have already gotten old. Or, as one of the commenters above pointed out, this is all very, very subjective. So much so that I kind of wish the author had used the first person singular rather than the first person plural.
