On It's Time To Set Your Fish Sauce Free

Honestly, you could go with what seems to be the Vietnamese American route and use nuoc mam with anything that a)needs a little bit of salt or b)is meat or protein. Thank you, mom, for using fish sauce when making meatballs.

On AFC and NFC Championship Sestina and Villanelle Picks

Jim, as a fellow Baltimorean, I give you these two haikus:

The 'Fu ascendent,
Ravens' D rattled Brady,
Super Bowl hopes for Reed?

But! Cundiff's last kick
crushed many a purple heart.
And Lee Evans--alas!

tl;dr: reactionary football doesn't win games. :(

On Football Pick Haikus For Week 7

@Dave Bry: As a Washington fan, my husband would be incredibly happy if they just went with calling themselves "the Washington football team" and just cut things out entirely.

On the flipside, I'm trying to decide what a "wonk" mascot would look like. Your usual computer nerd look, but with a slightly better suit?

On What's Invisible At Harvard: A Conversation

@jaimealyse: I used to do the "I went to Boston in grad school" because I felt awkward about some of the possible reactions, but between having other people volunteer it about me (as you mention) and learning from the internet that it's seen as humblebrag, I've just decided to own the fucking thing. I am going to be paying back a fuckton of student loans, so why not?
