Us Weekly? "Their love was on display at an October 27 West Hollywood dinner with their friend, 'Half the Sky' coauthor Nicholas Kristof. 'They're attentive to each other. They listen, they're respectful and sometimes finish each other's sentences,' Kristof tells Us. 'When we walked into the restaurant, Brad kept turning around to make sure that Angie was OK.'"

Marvel At The Masterful Celebrity Industrial Complex http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/marvel-at-the-masterful-celebrity-industrial-complex http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/marvel-at-the-masterful-celebrity-industrial-complex#comments Wed, 22 Jul 2009 10:10:10 +0000 Choire Sicha http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/marvel-at-the-masterful-celebrity-industrial-complex GET IT MIN!The greatest thing about Janice Min quitting as head of Us is that she is doing lots of press! Here she explains everything there is to know about Us Weekly: "We broke that story at a time when most people had never heard of Jon and Kate. Now they wish they had never heard of Jon and Kate." How can I love someone who did that to America? I suppose one can appreciate mastery no matter how terrible the art form. Like there could be a really amazing mind-blowing painting of dogs playing poker, I think.

Why Did Janice Min Leave 'Us Weekly'? http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/why-did-janice-min-leave-us-weekly http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/why-did-janice-min-leave-us-weekly#comments Tue, 21 Jul 2009 12:10:16 +0000 Choire Sicha http://www.theawl.com/2009/07/why-did-janice-min-leave-us-weekly LOOKOUT MIN, IT'S KLUMA reader asks: "EXPLAIN THIS, PLEASE." Oh, well, it seems pretty obvious to us, why editor Janice Min is leaving the tabloid mag Us Weekly after seven years: it is a GENIUS time to get out. She WON. They have an ad page downturn of only 10% this year, versus, like, double and triple that elsewhere. That magazine was hot, and agenda-setting, both in the category and beyond. And if I were running a mag, I'd get the holy heck out now, right now, NOW, and continue to look STERLING as the market goes further to hell. Also we figure Janice was probably like, "This time around, I need to double my salary to around $4 mil a year to continue to deal with your bullshit, Jann Wenner." And Jann was like, "Blargh blargh blargh yeargh!" And then he did a little stompy troll dance, and probably swept everything off some assistant's desk and onto the floor. Maybe he threw a coffee. And then she was like, YES, indeed, I have had enough! Win! Oh and also I would go start a website. Ha, obviously.
