Man Excited About Fancy New Toilet, Being On TV

WTXF NEWS DIRECTOR: We've got a two minute hole to fill. I guess we run what's basically a commercial for a $6000 toilet while you extol its virtues in voiceover, but I worry about the actual newsiness of it. As presently constituted it lacks urgency. READ MORE

Shit Where You Eat

I mean, come on: "Diners in China are overcoming their reservations by flocking to a new toilet-themed restaurant where business is booming. Customers at the Modern Toilet restaurant, in Kunming, Yunnan province, eat on seats converted from toilets. Urinals hang on the walls as decorations and signature dishes include 'excrement ice cream', 'toilet bowl hot pot' and 'fried poo sticks.'" READ MORE

Iconic Toilets Celebrate Centennial

"The notion of 'fitting' inside a urinal may not appeal to everyone. But that's a pretty fair description of the experience. These big boys are so spacious and tall, and with shoulders that extend almost behind you and certainly far enough that no one can look over and make unfair judgments, that one might go so far as to describe the experience of relieving yourself as enveloping, even nurturing. And perhaps most important of all—certainly for the quality of life of subsequent bar patrons—the margin of error is huge. You basically can't miss." READ MORE

How To Make Toilet Acorns

"Mr. Brill, who mills his own acorn flour from nuts collected in Central Park, alternatively suggests placing the sack in a toilet tank for a month. Each flush will provide a quick rinse. 'The tank isn't contaminated with sewage,' he said, 'but be warned that the tannins will turn the toilet water brown.'" READ MORE

They Are Doing Amazing Things With Toilets In Japan These Days

What's new in Japan? "Instead of going to the doctor's office for simple health tests, some Japanese can now go to the bathroom. The 'Intelligence Toilet' can measure blood pressure, body temperature, weight, and urine sugar levels, all while you... well."

Ohio Rodents Emerging From Commodes

Okay, the clip is called "Sewer rats terrorizing Akron toilets." Do I really have to give you any more? I do not. But I will say that the way the reporter intones the words "the toilet" at the :53 second mark takes this thing to a whole other level. It is no longer just a story about sewer rats terrorizing the toilets of Akron; it is now a struggle for existence against the toilets themselves. Those toilets are evil. EVIL. Or at least they are the way this guy makes it sound. I think from now on when I leave a room I'm going to say, "You'll have to excuse me. I'm going to... the toilet." Gotta be good for a couple of laughs, right?

Real Life 'Trainspotting' Incident Rocks Britain

The game is afoot in the search for the young music fan who dropped her purse into a portable toilet during last weekend's Leeds festival and then spent over twenty harrowing minutes trapped within its horrific confines after sticking both arms into the bowl in a daring if ill-conceived rescue attempt. While the press has only identified her as "Charlotte,", a more casual moniker has been assigned to her. READ MORE

Japan: One, Two, Three Wipes You're Out At The Old Ballgame

I was admittedly kind of bleary when I read this article on Sunday morning, but in the cold harsh dawn of Monday it is still BAFFLING AND AMAZING. Short version: When the Boston Red Sox acquired Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka in 2007, they shelled out a $51 million posting fee to the Seibu Lions, his previous team. The team took the money and went to town on renovations in the Seibu Dome, their stadium. Most importantly, they fixed the toilets. READ MORE
