New Sufjan Stevens

I had almost forgotten about Sufjan Stevens, but apparently he just released an (hour-long) EP and has a new full-length (compared, I guess, to an hour-long EP) album, The Age of Adz on the way. How is it? "Yet again, this prodigal genius manages to confound expectations, confirming his place as modern music's most protean artist." I guess I'll give it a shot.

So have you ever started writing your annoyingly irregular music column for some website, and been sorta bummed about the long delay between your last post and the one you're about to work on, but still remain enthusiastic because you've lined up some sexily exclusive audio you're pretty sure people will be interested in… only to discover the same night you were gonna send everything over to Choire that the label in question released the mp3 for free on the internets in an uncoordinated panic over an illegal leak of the entire, soon-to-be-released album?

Twee The People

Choire and I send each other links to stories throughout the day, usually because we figure they might be of interest, sometimes because we're completely unwilling to write about the stories ourselves and hope that we can trick the other guy into doing it, sometimes it's just out of spite, like this mammoth thing about Don Rumsfeld I was tricked into looking at today. Anyway, this morning he sent me that Wall Street Journal story about the kid in Prospect Heights who makes people come to his apartment if they want to hear the Sufjan Stevens song which he alone has access to.
