Everyone Probably Owes Paris Hilton An Apology
We were watching the Paris Hilton episode of "South Park" the other night, in which the Paris character repeatedly coughs up semen and causes her dog to shoot itself. (She also dresses Butters in a bear costume, but never mind.) I remember it being funny and righteous at the time-2004-or at least not all that different from other things going on in the media. The episode is entitled "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset," and that about summed up the national mood. READ MORE
"South Park" Gets [BLEEEEP]
Last night's South Park was the second part of its 200th-episode celebration that collected various celebrities and in-jokes from episodes past — including the prophet Muhammad, who was involved in a Family Guy-baiting episode and brought back this time for complicated reasons involving Tom Cruise and other delicately constituted famous people who had previously been skewered by the show. Well, and perhaps for a bit of point-making publicity as well; the last time Muhammad was brought into the mix, Comedy Central censored all visual depictions of him, much to the ire of series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. "South Park," so much to answer for: "The beating of 12-year-old boy by a group of classmates at a Southern California middle school may be linked to a Facebook posting encouraging kids to target redheads, authorities say. The redheaded boy was beaten up by a group of seventh and eighth graders at A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas in two separate incidents Friday.... A Facebook page stating that Friday was 'Kick a Ginger Day,' referring to redheads and possibly inspired by an episode of the 'South Park' series, may have sparked the injuries at the middle school, authorities said."
