The contention that the women of Sex and The City 2 are considered too old to be sexually appealing is partly correct. Youth and sex appeal are inextricably linked, no doubt, and the sad phenomenon of mutton dressed as lamb (or L.A.M.B., I guess,) which certainly applies here, appears as the subject of mockery in every culture I can think of. But that isn't the whole story. The real problem isn't that the women of SATC2 are mature; it's that they are not.

As previously threatened, here is Liza Minnelli's interpretation of Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," which was put together for the Sex And The City sequel. I… I just don't know if it's camp, or meant to not really be listened to outside of the context of whatever scene it's in, or just the end product of a lot of really bad decisions by people drunk with consumerism-driven power. But I will say this: One of the thoughts I had while listening to it was, "Hmm, so, is this better or worse than the Chipettes' version?" I still can't decide the answer to that one, [...]
As a mostly disinterested observer I've found the overwhelming backlash against the new Sex and the City movie to be somewhat surprising. After all, it's not as if there's any radical departure from the series' formula that fans might find upsetting: The show always trafficked in the most grotesque stereotypes of shallow femininity; what made it so culturally noteworthy was the willingness of women to not only buy into its overt misogyny but embrace it. Even the show's greatest detractors would grudgingly admit an odd fascination with it. And yet we seem to have reached a moment where a growing number of former fans find themselves disgusted [...]
