Jim Inhofe, the Oklahoma Republican who is generally acknowledged to be the dumbest member of the United States Senate and who was last seen in this space calling the president "un-American", is unconcerned that Al Franken's victory in Minnesota might help ease the passage of the climate change bill. Inhofe, who once called the threat of global warming "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people," discussed the bill's chances and the Senate's newest member yesterday.

"I'll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota,'' he said.

"They are not going to get more than 35 votes.''

Asked if he was referring to Al Franken as the clown from Minnesota, Inhofe confirmed he was.

"I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I don't know the guy, but ... for a living he is a clown,'' the senator said.

"That's what he does for a living.''

Above please find a brief clip of Inhofe doing what he does for a living. Maybe he's worried about the competition.

Sen. Jim Inhofe said today that President Barack Obama's speech in Cairo was "un-American" because he referred to the war in Iraq as "a war of choice" and didn't criticize Iran for developing a nuclear program. Inhofe, R-Tulsa, also criticized the president for suggesting that torture was conducted at the military prison in Guantanamo, saying, "There has never been a documented case of torture at Guantanamo."

"I just don't know whose side he's on," Inhofe said of the president.

Then you're not paying attention, Jim. He's on the Muslim side. He spoke Arab and everything! Jeez, maybe you really are as thick as everybody says.
