Monetizing YouTube Animal Videos With Brief Pop Songs

If you've seen the opening credits for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," you've heard the music of Nerf Herder. The Santa Barbara "geek rock" band got its name from the scruffy alien Princess Leia pretends not to like in The Empire Strikes Back, and the group's best known non-Buffy track was a novelty song about Van Halen. This was all part of a larger SoCal scene that shared members and shows and houses with The Rentals, Lagwagon, Weezer, Psoma, Ridel High, the Lapdancers, Popsicko and other such groups popular with the college-educated irony crowd. Ellen Ripley Saved My Life

I was having maybe the worst month of my life when I saw Aliens at the Landmark Sunshine, and I'm pretty sure it was the only thing that saved me.

They actually work for demons, a kind of lesser god-monster from a parallel dimension porously paired with our own. Professional politics, a career nearly all attorneys aspire to, is itself a realm of slightly higher demons—higher in influence and power, not intellect or evolution. These professions, like those of talent agents and film producers and record-label executives and school principals, are natural [...]

Did the Gay Witches On "Buffy" Cause America To Accept Same-Sex Marriage?

It is amazing that gay marriage has become mainstream—and recognized in nearly a dozen states—over such a brief period of time. But it is not that amazing when you consider the power of Witchcraft. According to a mathematician-blogger (and we all believe whatever they say now), the trend to acceptance of same-sex marriage started exactly when two young Wiccan ladies became a couple on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Once Willow and Tara were just a normal part of a California town overrun by demonic forces and trampires, all the "Millennials" suddenly realized (because of the magic spell broadcast on television) that is was just fine to be a [...]
