You Got Medium (And Facebook!) In My Twitter

Everything looks more and more the same, and that's a bad thing, both aesthetically, editorially and even financially. The "mobile first" panic is reshaping the web, and that's a shame.

PS, RIP "retweet." Oh also? Welcome to Twitter photo-tagging. :/

"Everything looks more and more the same, and that's a bad thing.": It's The Virtual Geography of Nowhere. Twitter has contributed to it even beyond its borders by releasing the wildly popular Bootstrap user-interface framework (http://getbootstrap.com/). Although it's possible to customize Bootstrap quite extensively, most software developers who use it don't bother.

"The "mobile first" panic is reshaping the web, and that's a shame.": Again, it's mostly developer laziness and/or client impatience and/or cheapness. "Responsive design" is like "The international style" in architecture: doing it well is harder than it looks, whereas doing it poorly is all too easy.
