Your "Vibrant" Economy Is Keeping Things Unequal

"If you want to live in a more equal community, it might mean living in a more moribund economy."

Guh, this does not prove what conservatives will think it proves. The equality does not cause the moribundity. The economic booms are concentrated on a small number of success stories, which causes inequality. Am I supposed to make a joke here? Sorry I'm too infuriated to avoid being pedantic.

Dear boosters of plutocracy: correlation doesn't imply causation.

I strongly suspect a similar study would have obtained similar results in the 1950s or 1960s, when taxes on rich people were much higher and poor people weren't generally getting poorer.

The study says nothing about vibrancy or what cities are thriving unless you decide (as the Times reporter apparently did) that "vibrancy" means "the rich are richest."
