Fucking Masterfulness Of Movie Appreciated

"The way information is doled out in this film is fucking masterful, an absolute clinic in implication and inference—none of the key events that drive the story forward and fuck with the main character occur onscreen—and the math of plotting is absolutely airtight."
You almost certainly will not guess, but once you see what it is you will either think, "Oh, right, that is completely correct" or "I need to see this movie," and both of those thoughts will also be completely correct.

All correct! One of my favorites. Also, if you don't know, there's this weird twist in the screenplay's origin: http://andrewhearst.com/blog/2008/05/the_scandalous_origins_of_martin_scorseses_after_hours

read this earlier this morning, one of my absolute favorite movies. Soderbergh is a genius for agreeing with me.

Whatever happened to 'yuppie fish out of water' movies? That was a whole genre back in the 80s what with 'Desperately Seeking Susan' and 'Something Wild'. I guess there's nowhere left in NY that's that strange or dangerous anymore.

@LondonLee : It reached its pinnacle / nadir with "Nothing But Trouble" (1991), a movie so unremittingly awful it not only killed the genre but dismembered it, lit the remains on fire, and entombed it in concrete.

Fun fact : Yes, I know Digital Underground is in it. Not even the presence of Digital Underground can make the movie worth watching, that's how aggressively horrible it is.

Alternate bonus fun fact : Holy God, is that movie hideous.
