Art Enjoyable

There is no soundtrack for this excellent video that Melanie Hoff, a student at Pratt, made by sending 1,500 volts of electricity into a plank of wood. I know the perfect song. Also, this is another example of how everything, but EVERYTHING, is fractals. [Via]

The physics nerd in me wishes to point out that those pretty patterns she's creating appear to be Lichtenberg figures, which spontaneously form when high voltage is applied to an insulator. Nature does this with lightning. Sometimes to people.

Multiphasic (#411)

Eddie Floyd managed to get both "lightning" and "wood" into a song, so there's that?

Also Spiritualized's "Electricity" is wholly irrelevant but there are joshua trees in the video, which are almost made of wood?

Eh, too early.
