Will Snor'eastercane Sandy Destroy NYC? This Weatherdude Says "OMG YES"

Here she comes. Hurricane Sandy terribly abused Jamaica last night, and is en route, possibly, maybe, up the Eastern seaboard, where she has a hot date with a nor'easter blowing across the U.S. This has weather folks very excited. But none are more excited than the Wall Street Journal's Eric Holthaus. We'd like you to get to know him. He's the most fun of all the weather dudes who are absolutely freaking out right now. Then go out and buy all the candles and batteries and bottles of water.

Oh man. I love a good weather event! Although I'm a little miffed you didn't introduce me to Eric Holthaus at this time last year when I was single(ish) and his Midwestern cold front might have fallen madly in love with my hurricane.

I'm now convinced that I should be following this guy. Nice.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang won my devotion a while back: Less exciting than Choire's guy but richly in love with weather. And more credible.

Eric Holthaus is definitely NY's best weatherman.

For the love of crazy weathermen everywhere, somebody lookup Bob Breck's antics on Youtube. He's a Nola meteorologist and went totally apeshit during Isaac. And many, many times before that. August 26th: "It's been a long night, I'm going up to the wet bar."

I do admire his ability to sound the alarms without saying "hunker down" every 10 minutes. Suck it, Jim Cantore!

His tweet left out the best part of that NOAA/NWS/HPC forecast, though: "Once the combined gyre materializes, it should settle back toward the interior northeast through Halloween, inviting perhaps a ghoulish nickname for the cyclone along the lines of "Frankenstorm", an allusion to Mary Shelley's gothic creature of synthesized elements."
