Civil Unions Way Too Radical for This Year's Republican Party

Haha, the GOP plank this year won't even get down with civil unions, much less gay marriage, because it's 1952. Must be a hard year to be a young Republican or even that old mythical "social liberal/fiscal conservative."

Is there some correlation to the integration of the internet and the repulicans going full retard? I do recall living in a time when at least once in a while a republican would say something seemingly genuine and I actually agreed and thought "hey, how sensible!" That was a very very long time ago (before Lewinsky, I think they lost it then, they broke.)

I have one friend who claims to be the aforementioned myth. He basically just wants to be rich like his dad and brother, blames poor people for being poor, and he likes smoking weed. I think he just likes that social liberalism supports capitalism but he could do away with all that social justice stuff. I personally practice what I preach and am a fiscal liberal.

@whizz_dumb Yeah, that makes some kind of sense. But I will never, but never, fathom the Log Cabin Republicans.

@DMcK Maybe it's because of this..

Let's be quite frank. If you are socially liberal, and fiscally conservative, you should be voting Democrat. Republicans now stand for batshit crazy, and nothing else.

@cory dodt@twitter Yeah, I think most people would describe themselves as "fiscally conservative" – even liberals. No politician gets on a soapbox to say "Hey, let's spend money wildly with no accountability whatsoever. Budget schmudget!"

@julebsorry George W Bush did.
