Sitting Down Will Let You Finally Rest Two Years Sooner
"Sitting down for more than three hours a day can shave a person's life expectancy by two years, even if he or she is physically active and refrains from dangerous habits like smoking, according to a study to be published on Tuesday in the online journal BMJ Open." If you're worried, here's a guide to standing desks.

And that's why I spend my days lying on a couch.
@BadUncle Amen.
@BadUncle: If you're lying to your therapist, you're missing the point.
@SidAndFinancy Point taken by this layman.
Can I start smoking again?
Yeah, well, if you're sitting that much you don't have anything to live for anyway.
Yeah, but they shave those two years off the end.
@TableNine
People who smoke, drink and sit won't be elderly all that long. Statistically elderly.
@Tulletilsynet so you're saying I've discovered the cure for old age? Neat!
I set up a standing desk and believe me, it's changed my life. Now I don't get cigarette ash all over my lap anymore.
Alternate take : I prefer the standing desk because it makes drinking while working feel more like being at an actual bar.
That's why I prefer being suspended in a space-age nutritive gel.
@atipofthehat If it's good enough for veal, it's good enough for me!
@riotnrrd
Hell, it's good enough for Hormel's tinned SPAM.
Take a stand against sitting!
