Skyscrapers Bad

"Often the world's tallest buildings are simply the edifice of a broader skyscraper building boom, reflecting a widespread misallocation of capital and an impending economic correction."
A Barclays Capital analysis report tells us what we've known since at least the 1970s: Man's hubris in reaching towards the sun will lead to downfall. It's like we have to learn the lessons of Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden and Ovid over and over and over again. (This time it looks like China, which is currently building 53 percent of the world's skyscrapers, is in trouble.)

@Tulletilsynet Did you see The Awl has a PO box now? You can mail random stuff there and Choire or someone will carry it back to the office and wonder what it is.

@C_Webb Blah! I never signed up originally and now I don't know how to get it and I'm afraid I won't be seen as an Authentic Awl Commenter : (

@zidaane They have an intern for that. Also for reading comments and SoM to maximize injoke understanding.

@boyofdestiny The newsletter was actually ABOUT how you're not an Authentic Commenter. Damn, I've said too much ...

@C_Webb The sad truth comes out. I'm gonna go beat up some 200Ks until I feel better.

Yes! Thank you, Smitros! Again and again we are shown this. God, I love that song. And that video, with the drum solo and the light show! Awesomeness.

I saw them live in 1981, complete with 20-foot tall red-laser-eye-and-smoke-breathing Godzilla. A memory for a lifetime.
