Knives Out In (Where Else?) Britain

While overall crime in England and Wales was down 4% last year, "[t]he number of knifepoint robberies rose by 10%." Robbery in general was up 4%, but there's no indication how much of that was caused by the epidemic of hugger-muggery sweeping the Island. [Via]

My Number Is My Address

This is why we can't have knife things. (You were all thinking it!)

I've had about enough of your anti-British sentiment. Yes, perhaps I *have* been robbed at knifepoint - in fact, I definitely have. But at least I haven't been robbed at *gunpoint*.

And yes, I've been raped at knifepoint. But at least I haven't been raped at gunpoint.

As the Bard of Avon said:

"This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day
With knives."
