I used to date a woman whose mother was a Berlin native, been a child in the city during the war, and left Germany in the '50s for the US. Said girlfriend and I lived in Berlin for a few months in '02 and her mother came to visit us (her first trip back in decades) during the '02 elections; every time the conservative candidate for Chancellor came on the TV or radio, my ex's mom would say, "Ach, he sounds so Bavaaaaarian." Apparently sounding Hitler-esque still doesn't really go over well over there! (He ended up losing narrowly in something of an upset.)
You know who else's 'r's seemed to be rehearsed?

@jfruh Bavaria: the Texas of Germany.
Hitler was not from Germany, but Vienna, like my grandparents.
