Political Games: Will Elizabeth Warren "Steal" Obama's Money?

Dem 2012 nightmare: Their base donates all of its money to Elizabeth Warren, $0 to ObamaWed Sep 21 18:43:08 via TweetDeck

HAHA, YAY, LET'S DO JUST THAT! Ya know? Maybe she can stand up to the hilarious deranged terror propaganda machine of Rick Perry, just by laughing in its ridiculous Bruckheimeresque face. Those kind of monsters usually evaporate when you realize they're ridiculous.

I think John Edwards should date her. There, I said it.

If this actually comes close to happening, perhaps BHO should consider why people are so enthusiastic for Elizabeth Warren.

@boyofdestiny: is it that in warring with Congress she lost herself a job? Oh, wait ...

@boyofdestiny This won't happen. He's already doing very well with fundraising. Also, is MASSACHUSETTS so enthusiastic for Elizabeth Warren, or is it a certain kind of Internet PROGRESSIVE? She's now polling slightly ahead of Brown, but is that necessarily enthusiasm of the kind we're talking about?

I thought only crazy people called him BHO.

@Ham_Snadwich No beer and no TV make boyofdestiny something something

@Ham_Snadwich I'm imagining the letters BHO flying through space right before I watch a cheesy 80's movie.

@boyofdestiny Well, at least you didn't call him Barry Soetero or Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

@Ham_Snadwich I've also referred to him as BHO (not that that necessarily refutes the "only crazy people" theory). I've always viewed it as more like "FDR" or "JFK" than a RWNJ (right-wing nutjob) thing.

The Perry ad is far from hilarious, it is pretty incredible and likely effective with many Americans. Don't underestimate it.

Look the economy is in a Depression and Perry plays the ol' Gipper "Morning in America" card well. America wants a reassuring strong manly leader to "return" or at least remind us of our glory days. The ad expresses this feeling extremely well. Filling the screen with the words "An American" is subtle visual cue that speaks to primal fears and prejudices without being ham-fisted enough that it cannot be plausibly denied.

What is Obama's campaign slogan going to be this time around? "Shit would have been a whole lot worse without me, folks"? Not exactly inspiring.

Clarence Rosario

@Lockheed Ventura There are no subtle visual cues in that video. It's flag-waving applied with a flame thrower.

Perry's ad is likely to be effective with many Americans for the same reason Michael Bay movies are likely to be effective with most Americans. Bay, remember, the same guy WHO MADE A FUCKING SPACE ROCK LOOK ANTI-AMERICAN in a movie with a Biblically apocalyptic title.

Same principle here.

This. Sure, I'm going to vote for Obama. But the prospect doesn't exactly fill me with excitement.

PLEASE EXPLAIN BUSH/CHENEY. Could not have been more terrifying/ridiculous, and yet WOULD NOT DIE.

I'm not that worried about Perry (although his hair is INCREDIBLY presidential) because once the real campaign dirt-flinging starts to happen he won't look so shiny. But I fully expect him to win the republican nomination.

*sigh* Internet political junkies =/= Dem base.

I admit, I have serious reservations about Warren. I just don't think she realizes how dumb people are, and I don't think she'll be able to conceal her horror/befuddlement/contempt when she's confronted with it.

Choire Sicha

I know, that's going to be SO FUN. She'll talk to them like they're children. It's terrific!

Ham Snadwich
Ham Snadwich (#11,842)

@Choire Sicha Over/under on Warren saying "What is wrong with you people?!"? I'll put 5 on under 3 months.

SeanP
SeanP (#4,058)

I'm not sufficiently up to speed on Massachusetts politics to understand Warren's chances... but if she keeps talking about the whole "class warfare" thing the way she has been, I'm going to move up there for the sole purpose of voting for her. Why can't the rest of the party stand up to this crap?
