Is Sinead O'Connor Going to Be a Popular Musician Again?

That's the first release of the album version of "Take Off Your Shoes." And here's a recent demo version of "Reason With Me." Interesting things are (at last) happening! (The full album is now allegedly being released in 2012.)

(Also if you're not reading her website you're missing out on all sorts of acting out and lewd talk, plus her two good-looking man-nannies.)

well if "getting press" means "popularity" then sure.

@Maura Johnston STOP ENABLING SINEAD, CHOIRE!!!*

*(Pronounced "Stop Enabling Sigh-Kneed, Chore-Rawl!!!")

@Maura Johnston Haha, no my point is like… she's actually finally making real music! Not covers, not reggae easy listening whatever thingies… These are actually possibly pop songs!

I fucking hope so.

"No Man's Woman" should have been her big comeback single ten whole years ago, but she torpedoed it with some ill-timed declarations of sainthood/lesbianism/noI'mnotlesbianism. She is one of the great talents and voices but can't seem to get out of her own damn way. <3 u Sinead!

I'm hoping it's her Twitter feed put to song.

Fight the real enemy.

@johnpseudonym She had an awesome op-ed in the WaPo a few months ago that basically boiled down to "Hey, remember when I tore up a picture of the Pope on SNL to protest the Church's complicity in systemic and terrible sexual abuse of children? Remember how everyone yelled and/or laughed at me? Yeah, well, whad'ya think now, huh?"

sunnyciegos (#551)

@jfruh YES. She was totally vindicated. It was really well-written, too, or well-edited at least. I remember the byline simply said "Sinead O'Connor is a mother in Dublin," or something along those lines.

@sunnyciegos Considering that when she was a teenager she was sent to one of the notorious Magdelene Asylums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalene_Asylum)- imagine the prison from Oz, but run by nuns, and functioning as a laundry – she can put the Pope in a wood chipper on SNL and I'd applaud it.
