How Michele Bachmann could bring back $2 gas: "Bachmann’s economic policies (such as immediate drastic cuts in federal spending) would surely cause a new recession, the recession would also affect Europe, China, India and other major oil consumers. Oil prices would collapse and gas prices would indeed plummet below $2 a gallon (just as they did in late 2008)."

"The only policies I can think of that would surely accomplish the $2.00 a gallon target are: 1) The seizure by force and nationalized exploitation of a large proportion of the world’s oil supply.2) The massive federal subsidization of fuel costs.3) The fomenting of a second global recession as bad as or worse than the last one, complete with negative global GDP growth." And that's from National Review!

You mean a recession newer than the one we're currently on the brink of? That woman has SKILLZ!

Yes, because commercial exploitation never causes precipitous declines in the global economy!

At least then we could just burn it all down and call it quits

Was just reading the Matt Taibbi piece on Bachman and this line bears repeating:

"Fans of obscure 1970s television may remember a short-lived children's show called Far Out Space Nuts, in which a pair of dimwitted NASA repairmen, one of whom is played by Bob (Gilligan) Denver, accidentally send themselves into space by pressing "launch" instead of "lunch" inside a capsule they were fixing at Cape Canaveral. This plot device roughly approximates the political and cultural mechanism that is sending Michele Bachmann hurtling in the direction of the Oval Office."
