Sherwood Schwartz, 1916-2011
"Sherwood Schwartz, the veteran television producer who created and wrote the theme songs for classic TV shows including The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island, has died." Sorry for the terrible video quality on the clip above, but it is one of the many pieces from the Schwartz oeuvre that sticks with me to this very day. (Also the fake lips Gilligan wore when spy Ginger kissed him with poison.) In any event, Schwartz was 94.
I love this guy. Those shows were genius.
And my college buddy dated his granddaughter. Dave, you could have been heir to the Gilligan's Island fortune!
@SidAndFinancy I once read that Bob Denver (Gilligan), who had a fair amount of contractual leverage having made a name for himself playing Maynard Krebs, forced the producers to change the lyrics to the theme song from "and the rest" to "Professor and Mary Ann," to give them equal billing. What a guy.

Sherwood Schwartz was a wonderful person who was so full of life.
He cared about every person he came in contact with and never forgot them.
He was a loving family man and friend.
Sherwood's talent was amazing and what he did and created gave millions of people joy and memories.
He will be missed, but always loved.
