Fine, I'm Already Boycotting the 'Hunger Games' Movie
Lenny Kravitz. My word. He went directly from The Rugrats Movie to Precious and now is supposed to be in Selma and The Blind Bastard Club AND he is going to be playing the helpful hairdresser/wardrobe designer Cinna in The Hunger Games which… well, since people say the main character has been whitefaced, I guess we can say the supporting cast is being straightfaced. Because that character was gay gay gay gay gay. (I also pictured the character as being about twenty years younger but I'm in favor of age-blind casting.) Also they cast Dobby the elf from Harry Potter as the hunger games announcer and I just don't know what's going on. I wish I'd never read these filthy books so I wouldn't have to think about this and how wrong it all is.

TOO SOON.
This is why I stick to big boy books. Except for comics. Sebastian Stan is too smooth to play the feckless Bucky!
How does Hunger Games stack up against Battle Royale? Anyone read both?
@Neopythia Hunger Games is the CW network version of Battle Royale. An enjoyable but toothless version that aspires to be darker, more meaningful, and deeper than it really is. And the final book reads like the author started it about three hours before her hard deadline and just needed to wrap stuff up.
@Neopythia: I'm so glad you asked! I loved Battle Royale and thought the characters were far more interesting and better developed – even if still somewhat cartoonish.
I totally didn't feel the love for Hunger Games – read the first book, had no appetite for more. I didn't care about the characters, didn't understand their motivations and found the plot predictable. Yes, I get that it's for teens – but I loved His Dark Materials, so it's not just the YA genre that I had a problem with.
And I really did keep thinking all through Hunger Games that I was reading a sanitized, dumbed-down version of Battly Royale. But that's just me! Maybe you'll think the opposite.
@Neopythia Only saw the movie of BR and agree with everything said here. Couldn't get myself to pick-up the second Hunger Games installment, but the first was a fast, enjoyable read. I could see myself at 11-15 thinking it was freaking mind-blowing.
I wonder if they'll keep in the scenes where Katniss, a minor child, is completely naked and alone with Cinna, a grown man. It didn't seem weird in the books.
Duuude, who says he's not gonna play it gay? Oh wait, it's actually just that Lenny Kravitz probably can't act. Probably?
I don't know, I'm not that worried about it! I think he could work pretty dope as pretty, serious Cinna.
There's already too many adult books I don't read, don't make me feel guilty for not reading YA.
Other than the fact that he was a clothing designer who wears makeup, there really is nothing in the book that indicates his sexuality.
Wait, Putin's reviving his acting career?
