John Paul II One Stunt Away From Sainthood
"Church officials believe that the Polish pope, who himself suffered from the condition, interceded for the miraculous cure of Sister Marie Simon-Pierre, a Frenchwoman in her late forties. She has said her illness inexplicably disappeared two months after John Paul II's death, after she and her fellow nuns had prayed to him. Church-appointed doctors agreed that there was no medical explanation for the curing of the nun, although last year there were some doubts about the validity of the miracle. A Polish newspaper said that a doctor who scrutinised the nun's case had concluded that she might have been suffering not from Parkinson's, but from a nervous disorder from which temporary recovery is medically possible."
—Pope Benedict XVI has officially declared the first miracle attributed to his predecessor. They just need to find one more, and the late John Paull II will be beatified as a saint. Shouldn't take too long. There's magic everywhere in this bitch.

I grew up Catholic, and one of the things I never understood about the beatification process is, with all of the saints that are already out there and available to intercede on your behalf, why would you pray to someone who wasn't a saint? It seems like a needlessly risky move!
I call bullshit. JP2 couldn't even cure his own Parkinson's while he was alive, and now we're supposed to believe that he can cure some nun after he's dead?
I mean, why stop making shit up now, Catholic Church? It's not like the faithful are going to hear some miracle that JP2 performed and think, "WELL THAT'S JUST IMPOSSIBLE."
"Fucking immaculate conception, how does that work?"
Without the fucking, that's for damn sure.
Common misconception; the immaculate conception dogma is about Mary being born without sin, not giving birth w/o bangin'
Yes, but that doesn't work so well as a jokey-joke. Just go with it.
I knew there'd be a secret recipe for Cured Nun.
It's a shame I can only give this one thumb up.
I am really surprised that "some Polish newspaper" is doing anything to detract from the beatification of JP2. I was in Warsaw right after he passed (actually, weird story, I was in Italy when he died, then flew back to Warsaw the next day) and man, the Poles love them some JP2. The mourning was incredibly intense.
Isn't there some big to-do over a cross memorial to Kaczynski (the other one) where an odd mix of European integrationists and atheist reds are in conflict with traditionalists from the Solidarity movement and other places?
So these Nuns "prayed to" a Pope?!? when did they stop being Christians ? Because from what I remember from 19+ years of being at church or Bible study or even having read the entire bible more than once (I'm a preacher's son) that shit is not OK with the God of anyone's bible.
Yeah, a guy who ran a decades-long continuing criminal enterprise, covering up for child molesters in multiple countries, is a saint. Good luck selling that, Pope Rat, but I ain't buying.
The whole Goddamn operation (racket?) is suspect even by their own "standards".
While I totally blame the Nazi Youth Pope for the child-molester coverup, which is a fucking abomination (obviously) but all signs point to JP2 knowing very little about it. And maybe it's reprehensible that he didn't investigate it further, but I don't think you can pin total responsibility for that on him.
Now, you want to get into condom use and birth control and that whole scene, that's a different story.
At the same time, though, John Paul II did a LOT of good in the world, especially in Poland. Whether that negates the evils perpetrated by Catholicism as a whole during his reign (term?) is up to you to decide.
Yeah, remember when he supported the right-wing juntas in Central America in the 70s and 80s because he didn't support the "liberation theology" of the priests (later murdered by said juntas) and had them removed from their posts? Dude was AWESOME!
That video, and the song, and the whole Insane Clown Posse enterprise are enough to make me pray for a very particular and malicious miracle.
See http://www.catholicdoors.com/faq/qu221.htm for a short summary of the four step process and requirements.
