John Boehner's Crying Game

"In 2007, he cried while delivering a speech on the floor of the House, in support of funding for the war in Iraq. “After 3,000 of our fellow citizens died at the hands of these terrorists, when are we going to stand up and take them on?” he sobbed.

Then this year, he voted against providing money to take care of our fellow citizens who became ill while doing rescue and reclamation work at ground zero after the terrorist attack.

Twice."
—Gail Collins knocks it out of the park in this column on John Boehner.

Gail Collins is the only reason to read the Times.

This is exactly what I proclaimed, hands in the air, this morning.

I have a girl crush on Gail. I'm sure anyone on my FB page or Twitter just gets sick of me retweeting/posting her every word, but so be it.

Timothy Egan adds his two cents to this in the NYTimes as well.

I wonder if Boehner is really crying because he knows he had a hand in killing the American dream for all those little children he can no longer stand to visit.
Or maybe he just wants a cigarette.

My guess is that it's the tax on tanning beds in the health care bill.

The problem is, as time goes on the reason he's cried have gotten lamer and lamer. He's definitely undergoing some weeping inflation, in an attempt to hold the attention of the news cycle. Soon he'll have to cry whenever a traffic light turns green, or whenever he gets a coffee at a Starbucks ("It just reminds me of the beauty of capitalism," he'll choke out).

His staff members worry they'll become ill from secondhand choke.

i drink because john boner cries.

I wish that someone with more free time and video editing skills would make one of those "supercuts" of Boehner's weepy moments and all of the republicans saying stuff like "man up" to their opponents during the last campaign cycle.

How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!

Well, Boehner and Beck are SOBs anyway, so this is fitting.

WindowSeat (#180)

I (and Dr. Hunter S. Thompson) blame Ibogaine.

Anyone remember if he was crying while he was handing out checks from Big Tobacco to elected officials on the floor of the House?
