The Awl To Merge With Any Magazine That'll Have Us!
David Cho: I love it when Tina Brown takes a metaphor too far.
Choire Sicha: SO GOOD.
David Cho: We should buy a magazine. Which ones are available?
Choire Sicha: Alex and I have a short list.
David Cho: A VERY SHORT LIST?
Choire Sicha: Oh heh. Well, we were thinking… Barely Legawl?
Choire Sicha: Or what about Detawls?
David Cho: Hmm.
Choire Sicha: Wawlpaper???
David Cho: I guess that would be appropriate. Cookieawl. Am I doing this right???
Choire Sicha: ….
Choire Sicha: Well, I also really want Monocawl.
David Cho: Tawlk. There's one for you.
Choire Sicha: Ouch.

Thank God for the Wikipedia link.
We're here to be informative!
(JK not really.)
You should supplicate before the Queen of All Media, and become:

The AWL and Talk Magazine Have Anal, Promise to Call Each Other.
Martha Stawlwerts Lawlving.
A bit of unsolicited advice for Tina. Whatever you name it don't keep the name "The Beast." People who name publications like that must simply expect that they will never have a writer who needs to cold call anyone and ask for an interview of information:
"And who would this be for?"
"Um… (squirms) The Daily Beast."
"The what?"
"The Daily Beast."
"Beast"
"Yeah."
"We'll get back to you."
That has happened to me. They're like WHAT? Then they're like "Oh, that's cool, you're from a blog."
Of course that's happened to me lots of places.
Newsbeast?
I prefer the Daily Week.
Leather Crafters and Saddlers Jawlrnal? I bet the price is right.

(get it? because awl?)
This made my mid-afternoon.
Crafty and yet a trade journal. The Awl could do worse. Like merging with a British aluminum producers' publication would mean adopting their spelling for "Awluminium."
Now with MORE Cats!
Ladies Home Journawl.
This blog has become very man-centric since they exiled the ladies to Hairpin. Let's not forget one uses an awl in quilting and sewing applications.
Hence our new partnership with McCawls Quilting.

@Tuna – you think? While I visit the Hairpin frequently, I still find my chakra to be more strongly aligned with the Awl, despite the football posts.
Nah, still love the original Awl (awlriginal?) and adore the football posts.

Balk bosses his friends.
Choire asks, "What do you want to do next?"
Balk takes the last apple.
Choire shares his orange.
Balk reaches across the table to grab the basket of dinner rolls.
Choire waits for Grandma to get her dinner roll, before politely asking her to pass him the basket.

I'm going to spoiler-alert here and note that this comment doesn't have a play on words in it, but this is the second time in a couple days that Talk has been (jokingly, but not entirely) deemed somehow too harsh, or too soon — the first being a conversation with a friend in which I compared the DB to George, or Talk. I think that one also elicited an "ouch."
