Good golly, even Vogue has a Tumblr now. Maybe there'll be cat pictures from the office! We're still waiting to see if the latest media companies to jump on Tumblr will do anything beyond posting images of their covers and tables of contents. (Don't take that personally! I meant all of you, not anyone specific!)

If they don't start following me, I'm going to starve myself.
Wait. That seems somehow opposite?
You're right. I'll have to starve myself either way, won't I?
For whatever reason, Tumblr sites boost SEO. No one's hopping on Tumblr to cultivate readership; they're hopping on Tumblr because its like HGH for their Google rank.
If the SEO from Tumblr boosts your publication's Google Rank, you've got bigger problems than blindly adopting blogging trends (leaving aside, for the moment, cat/cloud/gratuitious photos).
They have bigger problems.
I'd bet that there's a contracted SEO Guru/Swami/Asshole feeding them lines like, "Tumblr will get your post traffic above 2,000 page views, count on it!"
Damn. We should have thought of that. We just told them that Tumblr was free. Suckers….
How quickly I'm reminded being a jackass on the web never pays. :)
I can't wait until Wintour gets her hands on the intern who posted the broken cover image. And Choire, it looks like you're getting your wish: Office cats!
The Today Show has a good, surprisingly irreverent Tumblr. They reblog Pitchfork Reviews Reviews, for example: http://today.tumblr.com/
I'm highly disappointed. I thought you said En Vogue now had a Tumblr.
Never gonna get it, never gonna get it
Never gonna get it, never gonna get it
Never gonna get it, never gonna get it
Never gonna get it (whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa)
The New York Times as an "officially unofficial" Tumblr called Ten Ones: http://tenones.tumblr.com/. That's the number that shows up on caller ID when the Times calls you.
