The way we live now: "Last night, Snooki tweeted: 'Ugh stuck in newark traffic is no fun,' drawing a reprimand from Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who tweeted back: 'I can give u a ticket 4 texting & driving.'"

I would like to march over to New Jersey, grab that Booker fellow by the lapels and holler at him, "SHOW SOME DIGNITY, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE." because that's pretty much what this situation (hardy har har) calls for.

What? This didn't make anyone else, for even a fleeting moment, feel less isolated and alone?

Is that you, David Foster Wallace?

jfruh (#713)

Surely someone as wealthy and important as Snooki has her own driver, right? So she can sit in the back seat and concentrate on her job (tweeting).

And I'm holding out hope that Mayor Booker has some flunky to update his Twitter for him while he like, orchestrates the Newark Renaissance.

The Newark Renaissance falls into the same category as the South rising again: long-dreamed-of possibilities.

I actually wrote my thesis about Newark, and yeah. There's some pretty intractable problems. But sometimes, you've got to circle the wagons, especially against a powerful foe like Snooki.

As someone from the South Jersey, Camden makes Newark look manageable. I once remember hearing Camden's octogenarian erstwhile mayor say "Just because the water's brown doesn't mean it's not drinkable." Or something to that effect.

Here's what I like: Booker has so much star power it's really hard to believe, and for him to go to Newark and take on the problems there, now that's a ballsy move. He could've easily skipped right on by that mess on his way up.

@keiser: In my younger days, I had such an antipathy for Camden, stemming from the fight between Camden and my hometown for the right to be home to the USS New Jersey. I quickly realized that it ain't right to kick a man while he's down. What a bleak, bleak place.

I wouldn't vote for anyone who used "U" and "4" in place of real words, even in a Tweet. Only teenage girls and Prince should be allowed to do that.

Let us all try to prevent SnookiPAC from becoming reality.

keisertroll (#1,117)

Everyone knows SnookiPAC is merely a GOP front.

Mayor Booker, apparently with his text alerts set for "Newark" (and who knows what else) … sitting around trying to manage the reputation of all related to that City with Twitter posts– fingers on the keys, is amazing. I think this will be my image of that Mayor forever.

The impact of texting while driving is kind of diminished if you're stopped in traffic.

Traffic consisted of a hot dog cart, its owner, and two pedestrians.

I like Cory Booker.
