Video Report From Poorly-Marketed Natural Disaster In Pakistan

"Humanitarian organizations cited sparse media coverage globally and the relatively low death toll as the main factors in the slow pace of donations. Other elements, they said, included the preoccupation many nations have right now with their own economic problems, donor fatigue left over from the Haiti earthquake; and the August vacation season, when people are somewhat detached from the world."
-Come on, Pakistan. Everyone knows if you want to roll-out a natural disaster that that puts one-fifth of your country (60,000 square miles, an area roughly the size of England) under water, you don't do it in August! Also, if you want to get those donations flowing, you really gotta up the body count. Twenty million people merely "left homeless" is not going to put the money into the baskets.

The real reason for lack of support is because it is A TERRORIST MUSLIM FLOOD. Who is REALLY behind this flood? HAVE THE VICTIMS DENOUNCED HAMAS?!!

Dear Dave,
About 4 months ago,the BBC radio was in/at Islamabad (University?) talking to students. Nary one good word was said about America. I am not Joe Red, White,Blue, but I am working in NYC and MANY busboys are Pakistani's and they all send money home (a lot),and they all say how they will/would never go back (except for a few in arranged marriages). Personally,I would help the people of North Korea before I spent one dime on this ungrateful society. It was so appalling (the radio deal). Great article (yours),regardless of my proclivities.

Mickey-

They are human beings. Considering your name, I assume you have a Christian background somewhere along the line. You should have compassion for people, families with children who are suffering. The idea that one should only help the "worthy" poor who happen to agree with your imperialistic agenda is the worst example of retrograde morality.

Please tell me why Pakistanis should be grateful to the United States? The billions we gave to the Taliban? Our support for their military dictatorships? Our weapon sales to their enemy India? Our support for the terrorist ISI? Our predator drone attacks on thire territory and citizens?

The only way we can build bridges to people is sincere assistance in their time of need without the expectation of obedience in return. I assure you that more radical Islamic groups are helping their brothers and sisters in the flood ravaged regions.
